According to then british govt. he was criminal/terrorist but for Indians he was freedom fighter,by this i wanna highlight the fact that our apprehension of any gr8 revolutionary depends on which side we stand (even sun rise from ur east only if you are facing toward north direction).
"History is always written by winners" therefore the people of winning side becomes legend whereas losing side's individual treated as villain in the history book, the best example for this is of Winston churchill and of Hitler.In second world war, it was not churchill's wisdom that saved england from defeat ...it's hitler's wrong strategic move because of which britain survived. On the other hand hitler was not in favour of killing britain's common people as he believed that they are the good breed of humans but still we see hitler as villain in history books or even in movies.
Similar is the case with osamabin ladin, he is a gr8 leader who is fighting for his people and had sacrificed all the comforts of his life for leading his side in war againts their enemy, so what if their enemies are Americans, Indians ...etc. Yes he is our enemy and no doubt about it but we should analyse his whole issue as a neutral player.what charges you will raise againts Osama :
1-> he is responsible for killing innocent people....!!!
according to them it's war and in war innocent people get killed.It happened in world war,in indo-pak war,in iraq war and no nation(including srilanka) has clean hands when it comes to killing of innocent people.

2->He is unnecessary attacking or having war with other nation...!!!
They have plenty of wrong as well as right reason (i have to write a separate book to discuss them).
3-> These people are responsible for many bomb blast...and disturbing world peace...!!!
so what...!, it's their strategy of war... and they themselves are not in peace because of other nations then why should they let you to live in peace...........and as we say "every thing is fair in love and war".
Now let's compare the both sides of war, one is of Al-Qaeda(other groups) and other is of rest of world (NATO,UN).One side has all the wealth,military power(those b2 bomber and all),
technology... etc and now think what other side has....rocket launcher, bombs,guns.... they don't even have a short range missile forget fighter plane , even then also they are fighting from last 10 years and it's been 10 long years for Americans/world struggling to finish these groups.
Don't you think these group has done miraculousjob as they are fighting against a power full enemy from last 10 years, do they have some blessing from Allah himself for this so called jihad.....or their is much more other than what world perceive about this fight and situation.....????????????????

whatever we perceive/think about any issue is what we have been told by the media,by the politician or by the other powerful section of our society. America maintain that they are solving the issue....from last one decade.....are they so ineffective....??...do they really wanna solve it or this whole thing is just an eye wash to cover some bigger objective...?
India has given 10 dossier of 26/11 attack to Pakistan and nothing happened, how many dossier does Americans gave to the world to prove Osama bin laden's hands in 9/11, we'll not believe those video or msg which they get time and again, as making those fake video is much easier than making an episode of ekta kapoor's daily soap's, American said that they have proof against Osama bin laden and they attacked Afghanistan, they also had proof of chemical and mass destructive weapons present in Iraq (they haven't found any of such weapons there) and based on that they attacked Iraq leading to the killing of many innocent people, therefore gave enough reasons for the birth of many more Osama bin laden which will haunt them in future.

although what you say is true to certain extent in terms of the perspective. I beg to differ, since the case of Osama, Hitler etc are nothing but flawed ideologies and that today AF-PAK is a breeding ground for terror merchants who do nothing but kill innocent people cannot be justified in any way.
